Brian’s photography conveys his intimate understanding of the elements -- snow, water, and earth. He has continually immersed himself in the world’s wild and natural places through ancient modes of travel -- skiing, paddling, and simply walking. Through the art of photography he touches the lives of others with the power and beauty of these rare places. Brian began delving into the world of photography as a high school student. The artistic process has surrounded him since birth, having parents who are both professional potters and painters. In 1993, he hiked the Appalachian Trail from Georgia to Maine. He spent the next eight years working for outdoor organizations such as the Appalachian Mountain Club and Outward Bound. Brian’s images have a unique sense of vivid color and sensual texture. However, their ultimate distinction lies in the subject of these images, which are captured during expeditions into truly wild and remote locations. His travel experiences range from Mexico to British Columbia, and Hawaii to Labrador. Brian derives inspiration through nature’s most raw and basic materials. The patterns and designs, which occur within the structure of nature’s blue print, are a continual source of wonderment. The geographical diversity that exists among his images illustrates the global nature of these patterns. Through his photographs, Brian hopes to inspire a reverence and active appreciation for our shared planet. |
